We witnessed the Eggesford hunt mark a fox to ground in a badger sett near Chawleigh. Now that our investigations have concluded, we can release more information about the incident.
As you can see in our video, huntsman Jason Marles encouraged hounds to mark the sett, causing damage to the sett entrances, and blew the horn call “gone to ground”. He smugly told sabs “you can’t take hounds to court” and insisted that his pre-laid “trail” just happened to end at the sett….
Terrierman Victor Gibbings was also present at the sett and the incident was witnessed by many other members of the hunt. After the hunt moved on, the sett was guarded all day from a safe distance, in case the terriermen came back.
Sadly when we returned to check on the sett the next afternoon we found that the terriermen had since been back and dug-out the sett. Earth had been dug up to block sett holes, and bits of fox fur, blood and organs were strewn on the grass and at the sett entrance. The fox had clearly been ragged by a terrier and killed in the most brutal way.
This is a devastating find for sabs to have to make, but rest assured we will get justice for the fox who lost her life to the desperation of these bloodthirsty psychopaths.
We are coming to the end of the 2019/20 hunting season now but we are already getting ready to take action over the summer, gearing up for the badger cull and preparing for the next season when we will be back even bigger, stronger and more determined than ever to stop the hunts.
