Lamerton Hunt, Higher Grinnacombe near Roadford Reservoir, 17.10.2020

This Saturday we visited the Lamerton hunt cubbing meet at Higher Grinnacombe near Roadford Reservoir.

They began the day asking sabs for track and trace details and then assaulting us when we tried to provide them, driving at sabs on quads and shoving them across fields.

Huntsman David Lewis began drawing the valley between Higher Grinnacombe and Pinnacle from the Reservoir towards the road and then back again. Sabs were located strategically to film their illegal hunt and intervene in case a fox was driven out of cover. With hunt support posted along the south side of the valley to drive quarry back down any fox would have nowhere to run except onto the road.

Lamerton Hunt at Coombe, Lifton, 9.12.2017

Never a dull day with the Lamerton. They met at Coombe in Lifton and set off straight into the river valley east of the meet. Hounds were hunted through woodland and dense gorse: certainly not anywhere a trail could have been laid! Sabs had been stationed on both sides of the valley for about half an hour before the hunt left the meet and there had been no sign of a trail-layer anywhere. Anyone who knows anything about scent knows that a trail laid any earlier than that would have evaporated by the time the hunt eventually appeared in the valley. And anyone who needs convincing that the Lamerton’s claims about trail-hunting are a pack of lies need only watch this footage of them killing a vixen and her cubs.

South Tetcott cubbing at Henderbarrow, Halwill Junction, 31.8.2017

We had a last-minute tip-off about a South Tetcott cubbing meet at Henderbarrow Farm in Halwill Junction, so we paid them a visit along with friends from Sheffield Hunt Saboteurs and Somerset Hunt Saboteur Group. It had rained a lot in the afternoon and the ground was wet and muddy, and the hunt were on foot. Terriermen accompanied the hunt with their usual equipment, and about a dozen support vehicles lined the country lanes around the meet.
